June 24th 1862
We have had light airs and calms all day. Capt. Baxter is getting ready to build
a caboose aft under the house. and I have been at two or three different jobs to day and finished all but the last one while night over took me which I was working at it.

Wednesday June 25th
Had moderate winds all day long from the S and S.W. heading north and SE. Capt B. went at work upon the caboose today and got along with it very well ended. I have been at various jobs during the day and while I was at work upon them I could think of home and wish that I might be there with folks today.

Thursday June 26th
We have had light weather during these twenty four hours. There has been a schooner and a Brig in sight. Capt B finished the caboose to day and we have knocked the old one to pieces. We have had the wind from the S steering E. & E.S.W. Bark out for water and flour.

Friday June 27th
Had moderate wind from S to S.SW heading W.S.W. & E.S.E. Seven sails in sight one of them was a Whaler. We exchanged signals with her but could not make her out. The watch employed breaking out the rum. This forenoon am stropping some Blocks sun the point of a marling spike in my hand. I put some rum & wormwood on hand.
